Crossing the Chasm Without Burning Out: Leadership in the New World
Leaders today are facing complexities that are unprecedented and unpredictable. Many of the leaders I work with are feeling overwhelmed and are at risk of burn-out as they constantly wrestle with the question, “How do I respond to what is being asked of me, when everything is constantly changing and the old ways of working are no longer working?”
What’s in the Way of Your Organizational Adaptability and Resilience? The Invisible Culture
As a leader, how do you keep teams connected and engaged when working virtually? How do you pivot when suddenly your product or service becomes irrelevant when it was in demand only months ago? It’s incredibly challenging to come up with solutions for problems no one has anticipated. This increase in the rate of change and disruption organizations are experiencing is adding extra strain on the role of leadership.

Adaptive Organizations
A Deliberately Developmental Organization (DDO) creates the organizational conditions for the individual to overcome their own internal barriers to change, to take stock of and transcend their own blind spots and to see weaknesses and errors as prime opportunities for personal growth.
Adaptive organizations recognize that the challenges they are facing can be categorized into two distinct types: technical and adaptive challenges. Technical challenges can be overcome through the acquisition of new skills and technologies, while adaptive challenges demand a deeper transformation of individuals and the organization as a whole.
Adaptive Organizations address more complex, adaptive challenges that require shifts in mindsets, perceptions and behaviors. Adaptive challenges are mostly unconscious and become part of the invisible culture unless they are consciously brought to light and worked with through practices of reflection and self-awareness.
